Lop-Eared Guard – Extra 1

Edited and Proofread by: jie

After undergoing a war on the rocky beach, the bloodstains were washed by the surging waves until it turned spotlessly white. Gu Wei sat on the reef of the west coast as he watched the dim sea under the darkness of night and waited for two hours in the salty sea breeze.

After a while, he rolled up his pants and picked up a person from the bottom of the reef. In addition to a useless J1 differentiation ability, the husky alpha also had another useless companion ability, ‘search’.

His mercy was limited, only enough for him to make use of it and leave Lu Shangjin’s body intact.

The alpha’s body was frozen stiff and pale from the seawater, and the glands on his neck were completely destroyed by the powerful magnum bullet.

When taking him ashore, Lu Shangjin’s pale lips were still trembling slightly, weakly calling Yan Yan’s name. No one could see a way out of this injury, but he kept holding onto his breath.

Gu Wei’s peaceful gaze suddenly rippled. The ring hanging from his neck gently tapped against his chest, the thin chains colliding lightly and making a faint sound, as if calling out his name.

Perhaps the powerful alpha had always been exactly the same. Gu Wen’s shadow was visible in him.

Gu Wei snorted faintly as he stubbornly compared in his heart. If Gu Wen were still there, whose turn would it be to become Lu Shangjin’s hero?

Before Lu Lin was taken away, he left Lu Shangjin’s glandular stem cells in the control room. Gu Wei returned to the PBB Pacific headquarters with the frozen stem cells and a half-dead Lu Shangjin.

The world’s top gland experts received confidential orders from PBB and rushed to the rescue. However, not only were the glands of the alpha completely destroyed, the injury on his body was also extremely serious and his life was in danger. He could no longer wait for the stem cells to grow into embryonic glands.

Under compulsion, Gu Wei, as a commander, sent a confidential request for help to An Fei Ya Hospital.

Dr. Zhong signed a confidentiality agreement and brought a frozen baby corpse to the Pacific headquarters, saying that it was Lu Shangjin’s little brother who had been tested for various indicators when he arrived. The baby’s glandular type was a peregrine falcon alpha, differentiation potential was A3, and the pheromone was Christmas rose.

Lu Shangjin complained that Ye Wan didn’t love him and left so resolutely, unwilling to leave anything for him. But in fact, Ye Wan had left behind a second life to give his beloved son.

The surgery process went very smoothly, but the consecutive rejection reactions also tortured Lu Shangjin to lose more than ten pounds. In the ward, he went mad and roared in pain repeatedly day and night. Gu Wei had to ask the nurse to handcuff the alpha to the hospital bed and hold his mouth tightly shut.

Lu Shangjin would occasionally calm down and fall into a daze. Body bound with iron chains, his eyes would turn red as he longed for an omega he couldn’t remember at all.

The alpha had also regressed to a young age. It was difficult for a child to bear the pain that was deep in their hearts, so it really annoyed everyone around him. Gu Wei held a needle and gestured in front of him, “If you don’t want to endure it anymore, do you want to be euthanized?”

Lu Shangjin shook his head and silently longed for the omega’s gentle comfort. He wanted to see him and let the omega pat his head. The omega was still waiting for him to go home.

It took a year and a half for his glands to fully recover, but there was no sign of differentiation.

During Gu Wei and Yan Yi’s online meeting, Lu Shangjin stood in the camera’s blind spot silently watching the holographic projection of Yan Yi sitting on the sofa, quietly holding his hand.

Whenever Gu Wei couldn’t sit by idly and watch this, he wanted to directly tell Yan Yi that Lu Shangjin had been helplessly leaning on the sofa and looking up with a bitter smile.

It was difficult to move from luxury to frugality. For a top-notch alpha to be completely reworked and become a waste, anyone would say that it was too brutal. He was unable to protect his wife and children, and even had no face to stand with them.

Even if he returned to Yan Yi’s side as such an alpha, they would also feel ashamed about it, right?

He made a phone call to their house. It was a sudden whim, he really wanted to hear Yan Yi’s voice.

But it wasn’t Yan Yi who answered it, nor was it the nanny.

There was only a little baby voice humming into the receiver, happily muttering to himself, “Daddy, daddy.”

The alpha’s eyes misted over. On the other end of the phone, he repeatedly promised and coaxed little Lu Yan, daddy really misses you.

The little baby voice on the other side was humming and parroting, “Miss you.”

Lu Shangjin covered his eyes and leaned against the wall, choking up as he said, “Daddy will be home soon. Wait for daddy okay?”

Hanging up the phone, he did not fulfil his commitment and instead entered the differentiation guidance room.

Gu Wei scoffed at this. Everything that Lu Shangjin was worried about was nothing more than vanity in his eyes. It wasn’t easy for his family to stay together. Who would bother to care about all those false imaginary things?

Gu Wei was afraid that Lu Shangjin would die inside, so he came every morning to take a look and determine how much more blood was added to the floor tiles of the differentiation guidance room, and how many bones were broken in the alpha inside.

Lu Shangjin’s third-grade differentiation was unexpectedly catalyzed by himself in a fatal manner. It was unknown what belief he held onto to withstand the cruel differentiation and guidance for a whole six months. When the alpha walked out with a pair of messy wings, he was already covered in bruises.

When he left, he left behind a chip for Gu Wei, which was a recording of the confidential information of Lu Lin’s control of PBB for these years as a thank you reward to Gu Wei for the past two years.

Gu Wei was holding his guitar and writing a new song.

In actuality, he always did more than what he said he’d do, and it was not Lu Shangjin who should have rewarded him the most.

For example, the narcissus flowers around Yan Yi’s home were shovelled away and replaced with Christmas roses by him. For example, he would drag Lu Shangjin out every time he fell inside the differentiation guidance room. For example, he had taken a shirt stained with milk candy pheromones from Yan Yi’s lounge and conveniently tossed it at the alpha who was silently yearning.

He knew that when he couldn’t survive in the world, the acceptance from his loved ones was the rope that pulled him back from the edge of the cliff.

Lu Shangjin had left and his deserted house was now missing a sealed oil bottle1 with violent tendencies. It didn’t seem so lonely either, but there was only one set of tableware left on the dining table, and one less person whom he could mock during his meals.

Gu Wei took out a videotape from several years ago that he had always cherished. From time to time, he took it out to have a look. Sometimes being alone was truly lonely. It was also good to listen to your family’s voices.

The tapes were old so the videos showed intermittently.

A kindly middle-aged alpha’s face appeared on the screen. Gu Yuanzhi sat confidently and calmly with his hands on the table.

“When you see this video tape, your dad may have passed away or is about to die, but don’t be surprised or sad”

“I’ll leave PBB to you two. Don’t let dad down.

“Gu Wen, Gu Wei.

“You are dad’s pride.”

The image came to a sudden halt, remaining still at the last second.

Gu Wei stared at the screen for a long time. He then put on his military uniform and the shoulder badge of PBB’s highest commander, and placed the guitar with the letters ‘GW’ engraved on it into the box and locked it.
